Waterloo 2005 (Plancenoit)- Photographs by Graham Sherwood

In large events with over 3000 re-enactors it is often quite hard to get out your camera and take some pictures. This is true of all events which is why we have an official photographer. This is my excuse why the pictures are so bad. To get a better feel of this event i'll point you in the direction of other photos on the Internet. Follow these links:

Please bear in mind this was a 8-hour battle in 29 degrees and we were suffering from exposure to excessive heat, whilst wearing full battle dress. Yes this is the same uniform we wear in winter! Following the battle we had to march back 5 miles to the camp. This march is now known as "The death march", not only due to the conditions but also due to the fact we started out with a column of 1000 and end up with small groups of sragglers 2 hours later. There was a tractor with trailer going back along the line picking up the exhausted men from the sides of the road.
